The world of Ratnakar Ojha

An unmistakably Indian spirit, most evident in his fearless and joyous use of colour. He draws freely from the entire spectrum, fiery reds, glowing yellows, and deep, sensuous blues, offset with turquoises, ultramarines, and cobalts.

Art, for me, should be both visually beautiful and emotionally expressive. I choose the size of my canvas based on the idea I want to convey, when the concept calls for boldness, I prefer larger canvases because they give me the freedom to move and respond more naturally. I usually focus on a single figure or object, keeping the background simple so the subject can stand out clearly and speak for itself.

A powerful artwork has a magnetic pull, it draws the viewer in, no matter the style, whether figurative, abstract, or something else. In my paintings, colour, texture, and line are essential. I find much more peace and inspiration in nature than in the artificial world. I tend to use basic, warm colours. The red in my work is never harsh or aggressive; colour takes on different meanings depending on its form, a red circle feels very different from a red triangle.
